PITTSBURGH - The Duquesne women's soccer team ended its six-game losing streak on Friday night after a 2-2 tie against cross-town rival Robert Morris.
The Dukes (1-6-1) fell behind just 2:12 into the match when RMU's Rachel Sebbens put a header past DU keeper Devon Tabata.
Duquesne tied the score at 1-1 in the 39th minute when Paola Bayona scored her first career goal off a Katie Rust pass.
The Dukes went ahead 2-1 in the 76th minute when Gia Marino found the back of the net after an assist from Kathleen Wolff.
The lead would only last five minutes when RMU's Lauren Thomas took a pass from Brittany Rowe and on the right side. Thomas' shot hit the left post and ricocheted off the right post and bounced in.
At the end of regulation, the score was knotted at 2-2.
The first extra period was played between the 20 yard lines, with the only shot coming from Sebbens on a header.
The Dukes has a chance for the game-winner in the 107th minute when Rust got behind the Colonials defense, but her shot was stopped by RMU keeper Jessica Olin.
Although Robert Morris' fired 22 shots at the Duquesne net in regulation, the Dukes defense was able to hold the Colonials to just four in the extra periods. Sebbens led all players with six shots.
The Dukes will be off for one week when they close out non-conference play at Canisius. DU begins Atlantic 10 Conference play in two weeks when they host Richmond at Rooney Field. Both matches begin at 7:00 p.m.
