Adam Clement headed in a goal off a corner kick by Derek Patrizio in the 11th minute and Simon Gomez scored an insurance goal off a Carter Poe assist in the 68th minute as Duquesne won it's season opener over Niagara, 2-0 Friday evening on Rooney Field.

A crowd of 450 spectators witnessed the Dukes win its fourth contest all-time versus the Purple Eagles in six chances. Colin Thorp posted his first shutout of the season making two saves as the Red and Blue outshot NU, 16-7 which included a 13-4 shot advantage in the second half.

The Dukes return to action next Friday, Sept. 2 as they play Valparaiso at 8:00 pm in day one action of the Duquesne Tournament.
