PITTSBURGH - Duquesne head women's soccer coach Tim Zundel has announced the signing of Lizeth Paola Bayona to a National Letter of Intent.

Bayona, a native of Colombia, has played in numerous international tournaments as a member of the Colombian National Team including the 2008 Copa America tournament in Chile, the 2008 U17 Women's World Cup in New Zealand and 2010 U20 Copa America tournament.

"Paola is a good player that will add some international experience to our squad," said Zundel. "We are pleased to add a player with such international experience, Paola has competed for a World Cup and not too many players get a chance to say that."

In addition to the 2008 World Cup, Bayona was on the 2010 World Cup qualifying team that will play for the 2011 Women's World Cup in Germany this summer.

"I am excited to have her be a part of the squad, she will be a great addition," added Zundel.

The Dukes begin the 2011 season on Aug. 19th against Saint Francis, Pa. at Rooney Field.
