Kaitlyn Killinger of the Duquesne University women's soccer team was named the Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week Monday. In collecting her first career weekly honor, Killinger joins senior forward
Maya Matesa in being
selected as the Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week this season.
In a
3-0 victory over Richmond (9/21) at Rooney Field to open the 2025 Atlantic 10 slate, Killinger finished with a goal and an assist. She helped clinch the win after halftime, first setting up a goal from senior forward
Brianna Moore with a cross on a corner kick to give the Dukes a 2-0 lead over the Spiders less than two minutes into the second half.
Killinger, a native of Plum, Pa., sealed the victory at 82:17, chasing down the ball after another corner kick and scoring with her left foot for her second goal of the 2025 season and completing the 3-0 triumph over Richmond.
During the 2025 season, Killinger has started all nine games and ranks third for Duquesne in scoring with six points thanks to two goals and two assists. She has unleashed 24 shots, 14 of which have been on target, and also owns a game-winning goal.
Led by
Jessica Giegucz, in her first season as head coach, the Dukes own an overall record of 6-2-1 (.722) this season and improved to 13-15-3 (.458) all-time in Atlantic 10 openers with the victory over Richmond. Entering play this week, Duquesne ranks 10th in NCAA Division I in scoring offense (2.78) and also ranks in the top five nationally in three other categories.
The Dukes sit second in the country in shots per game (24.00), trailing only Stanford (25.11) out of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), as well as third in shots on goal per contest (11.11), behind only the Cardinal (11.78) and Houston (11.50) out of the Big 12. Duquesne also ranks fifth in corner kicks per game (8.56) after finishing with 12 in the win over the Spiders.
Matesa opened the scoring for the Dukes in their win over Richmond, netting her 11th goal of the campaign. She established a program standard thanks to the score, breaking a three-way tie atop the single-season record book for goals. Matesa enters play this week as the nation's leader in goals (11), points (23), goals per game (1.22) and points per game (2.56) while ranking third in game-winning goals (4).
Duquesne opens a two-game road trip Thursday, Sept. 25, with a 3:00 p.m. game in Washington, D.C., against George Washington. The Dukes will also visit Dayton Sunday, Sept. 28, at 1:00 p.m. before returning home to host VCU (Oct. 2).
