NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Sophomore guard/forward Orsi Szecsi has been named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week after averaging 17.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and shooting 62 percent from the floor - which included hitting 5-of-6 from 3-point range - in the Dukes' two victories last week.
Szecsi, who tied a career-high with 23 points in the Dukes 77-70 win over Akron, hit a 3-pointer vs. West Virginia that was the go-ahead basket for the Dukes who earned a win over WVU for the first time since 1995.
This is the first A-10 Player of the Week honor for Szecsi who was named A-10 Rookie of the Week twice last season.
The Dukes (9-1) are in Gainesville, Fla. participating in the Gator Holiday Classic. Tuesday DU will face Maine and will play either Charleson Southern or Florida on Wednesday.
