NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - After averaging 10.5 points and hitting on 67 percent of her shots while leading the Duquesne women's basketball team to a pair of wins last week against George Washington and Fordham, Wumi Agunbiade was named Co-Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week.
Agunbiade scored 11 points and pulled down seven boards in DU's 61-53 win at GW. This was the first-ever win for the Dukes at the Smith Center. She followed with 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting in the Dukes' 87-65 win over Fordham.
This was the sixth time this season Agunbiade has been honored by the conference and the third time she has been named in back-to-back weeks.
With the award, Agunbiade joins Korie Hlede for most awards in program history with five outright and one co-rookie of the week honors.
The Dukes (18-3, 5-1 A-10) look for a 12th straight road won on Wednesday night when they visit the University of Massachusetts (6-16, 2-5 A-10).
