Duquesne's men's soccer team captured its first win of the 2010 season with a 3-1 triumph over visiting Robert Morris Saturday afternoon on Rooney Field. Freshman Simon Gomez tallied two goals and assisted on another in the win while junior Tyler Tompkins scored a goal and added an assist.
Gomez was the first to light the scoreboard as he found the back of the net in the 52nd minute off assists from Tompkins and freshman Sean Gardner. Robert Morris answered just 46 seconds later however to even the score at 1-1.
Less than five minutes later, Tompkins scored the game-winner off assists from Gomez and senior Gavin Stabbe before Gomez added an insurance goal in the 67th minute to end the day's scoring.
Senior goalkeeper Chris Torres made four saves.
The Dukes return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 7 as they host Pitt at 7:30 on Rooney Field.
