Duquesne's men's soccer team won its third straight contest, taking down Army, 3-1 on Sunday at the Pitt Tournament.
Freshman Simon Gomez scored twice to give him a team-leading four goals, while sophomore Joshua Patterson tallied his first score of the season on a penalty kick.
Gomez gave the Dukes an early lead, scoring in the ninth minute off assists from senior Ben Horner and sophomore Carter Poe. Patterson was fouled in the box in the 29th minute and scored on the ensuing penatly kick to give the Red and Blue a 2-0 halftime advantage.
Army cut their deficit in half early in the second frame with a goal in the 49th minute, but the Dukes put things out of reach as Gomez scored in the 59th minute off an assist from senior Stefan Lundberg for the final score.
Senior Chris Torres made three saves in goal for DU.
Simon Gomez, Stefan Lundberg and Gavin Stabbe were named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Dukes return to action on Saturday, Sept. 18 as they host Detroit at 7:00p.m. on Rooney Field.
