Andrew Heck and Anthony DeFabio Receive Atlantic 10 Awards

Duquesne University junior Andrew Heck (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) and sophomore Anthony DeFabio (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) have been named to Atlantic 10 Baseball All-Conference Teams as voted on by the conference coaches and sports information directors. Heck was named First Team All-Conference while DeFabio was named to the All-Academic Team.

Heck led the Dukes in nine offensive and four pitching categories. He was the team's top hitter with a .408 average (91-223), setting school record for hits and doubles (25). He was also tops on the squad with 55 runs scored, 49 RBI, 15 stolen bases, eight sacrifice flies, a .673 slugging percentage and a .470 on base percentage. In addition, he was second on the team with 10 home runs and third with 28 walks. On the mound, Heck posted a team-best three victories in a staff-high 67 1/3 innings pitched with 44 strikeouts and three complete games. He was named to the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award watch list as well.

Anthony DeFabio


DeFabio hit .302 (48-159) for the Dukes which was good for fourth best on the team. A catcher/third baseman, he also had six home runs, 34 runs scored, 30 RBI, 31 walks and was 10-10 in stolen base attempts. DeFabio was second to Heck with a .444 on base percentage and posted a team-high and near school-record 16-game hitting streak from March 30 - April 23, hitting .481 during the span. A finance major, he boasts a 3.76 cumulative grade point average.
