Dukes Taken Down by Mountaineers, 23-6

Duquesne's baseball team yielded nine-first inning runs en route to a 23-6 loss to visiting West Virginia, Wednesday afternoon at Duquesne Field.

The Red and Blue cut the deficit to 10-3 after six innings, but the Mountaineers posted 13 runs in the final three innings to put the decision out of reach.

Rick Devereaux was 3-4 with two runs scored while Andrew Heck homered and drove in two runs. Chris Kimmeth and Matt Carson each had two hits with Kimmeth adding a pair of stolen bases.

Matt Zarin pitched two innings of scoreless relief while Michael Pelekanos tossed three innings, allowing one run while striking out three.

The Dukes return to action on Friday, April 23 as they host St. Bonaventure in a three-game Atlantic 10 weekend series.
