Duquesne's baseball team was outslugged by 23rd-ranked Pitt, 21-9 Wednesday afternoon at Trees Field.

The Dukes held an early 5-3 advantage after 2 1/2 innings, but an eight run bottom of the third by the Panthers and a nine-run fifth inning put the game out of reach.

Matt Carson and Rick Devereaux each went 3-5 with a run scored and an RBI while Derek Lefever went 1-2 with a three-run home run.

Brad Duffy, Chris Happ and Brent Roehrich each pitched scoreless innings in the sixth, seventh and eighth.

The Dukes return to action on Friday, April 16 as they travel to Xavier for a thre-game Atlantic 10 series.
