Duquesne's baseball team captured its first win of the season on Thursday, battling to a 3-2 triumph over Valparaiso in Winter Haven, Fla.

Junior Andrew Heck tossed the complete game for the Red and Blue, striking out three batters while walking none. For the season, he has struck out 10 batters without yielding a walk.

At the plate, Matt Carson was 2-4 with a run scored, Johnny Elms was 1-3 with an RBI and Anthony DeFabio scored a run and knocked one in.

The Dukes return to action on Friday as they face Ohio State in the Buckeye Invitational at 1:00 pm in Port Charlotte, Fla.
