Duquesne's baseball team wrapped up a three-game series at George Mason and came home with three losses. The Dukes fell to the Patriots 8-4 on Friday, 14-5 on Saturday and 10-7 on Sunday.
Matt Carson led the Dukes at the plate going 5-9 on the weekend with three RBI and two stolen bases. Johnny Elms also chipped in going 4-8. Paul Bugajski pitched four scoreless innings while striking out four as Friday's starting pitcher.
On Friday, Bugajski gave the Dukes four scoreless innings to start the game, but the Red and Blue couldn't hold on. DU had a three-run second inning as Derrik Zeroski had a two-run single and Carson followed with an RBI single as well.
Saturday's game saw the Dukes commit five errors, but was highlighted by Mark Tracy's team-leading seventh home run of the season and a pair of hits by Elms.
On Sunday, the Red and Blue grabbed an early 3-0 lead again and managed 13 hits on the day. Andrew Heck tossed the first six innings and had three hits on the day. Carson also added a trio of hits.
The Dukes return to action on Wednesday, March 24 as they travel to Akron for a 3:00 pm game.
