Dukes Victorious Over Kent State, 3-1

Duquesne's baseball team won its first game played above the Mason-Dixon line with a 3-1 triumph at Kent State Tuesday afternoon. Six pitchers combined to allow just six hits and one unearned run to the Golden Flashes.

Michael Pelekanos started the game and picked uphis first win of the season, tossing the first two innings, yielding a hit and the unearned run while striking out one.

Pitching in relief were Sean Clark, Matt Zarin, Jim Devine, Brad Duffy and Joe Lombardo. Lombardo tossed the final two innings, striking out three.

Rick Devereaux had two hits for the Dukes, Jared Bowser had a hit and scored twice while Matt Carson and Andrew Heck drove in runs.

The Dukes return to action on Friday as they head to George Mason for a three-game weekend series.
