Duquesne's men's soccer team won its third straight contest, improving to 8-7-2 overall and 4-4-0 in Atlantic 10 play with a 3-0 blanking of George Washington on Senior Day at Rooney Field.
Cory Bachstein, Stefan Lundberg, Ben Horner, Gavin Stabbe, Chris Torres and Jamie Waugh each played their last match on Rooney Field and were honored in a pregame ceremony.
Lundberg got the Dukes on the scoreboard in the 12th minute, taking a pass from freshman Simon Gomez and manuevering to the goal for a 1-0 lead. Junior Tyler Tompkins made it 2-0 in the 43rd minute with a goal off a Horner pass, then followed 27 seconds later with another goal, this time from Gomez for the final score.
The Red and Blue outshot the Colonials, 27-11 and had a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Torres made three saves in goal to register his fourth shutout of the season.
The Dukes wrap up the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 6 with a 2:00 p.m. contest at St. Bonaventure. A win could vault the Dukes into the top six in te Atlantic 10 standings and qualify for the A-10 Tournament.
