Joshua Patterson's goal in the 16th minute proved to be the game-winner as Duquesne defeated Xavier, 2-0 Sunday afternoon in Cincinnati.

Patterson scored off a Dave Cassanelli assist for the lone goal of the first half before Simon Gomez scored an insurance goal in the 63rd minute off a Stefan Lundberg assist.

Colin Thorp made three saves in goal in his first action of the season to earn the shutout. DU outshot XU, 24-10 led by five shots by Lundberg.

The Dukes return to action on Friday, Oct. 29 as they host Richmond at 7:00 p.m. on Rooney Field.
