Sept. 1, 2009
The Duquesne baseball program has announced that it will again play host to two events at Duquesne Field in September. The Dukes will host the annual Alumni Day activities on Saturday, Sept. 19 and welcome back the Ontario Blue Jays on Sunday, Sept. 20.
On Sept. 19, Alumni Day will open at noon with the "not-so-recent" alumni playing a game against each other. At least 14 people will need to sign up in advance for this game to take place. At 2:30, the more recent alumni will take on the 2009-10 Dukes.
All alumni participants will receive a complimentary t-shirt as well as food and beverage. Contact the baseball office at 412-396-5245 or by e-mail at wilson@duq.edu if you would like to participate. All baseball alumni are encouraged to attend even if you don't wish to play.
On Sunday, Sept. 20 the Red and Blue will take on the Ontario Blue Jays traveling squad at noon at Duquesne Field.
The Ontario Blue Jays are a traveling team consisting of players 16-18 years old who play top college competition annually. The Blue Jays have played schools such as Arkansas, Kansas, Wichita State, Auburn and Florida in the past.
The game with the Blue Jays will not count towards Duquesne's record or number of games allowed in 2010. The NCAA permits teams to play one game per year against international competition.
