Howard Earns District 2 Academic Honors

Samantha Howard (Moon Township, Pa./Moon) has been named to the 2009 ESPN The Magazine District 2 Cross Country/Track & Field Academic All-America First Team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America today. This is Howard's second ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District honor - she also was named in 2007.

District 2 includes all NCAA Division I schools in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Howard finished her career setting six school records and won multiple Atlantic 10 Conference medals.

Academically, she graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2008 and was awarded MS in education, reading and language arts in 2009 with a perfect 4.0 grade point average.

As a member of the first team, Howard is eligible for the national ballot which will be announced later this month.
