Mia Pierce set a program record and captured a gold medal in the discus throw to help lead Duquesne to two first-place finishes on the final day of the ECAC Outdoor Championships on Sunday at George Mason Stadium. Freshman
Rose Kuchera added the second gold medal with a victory in the triple jump.
FULL RESULTS
Pierce broke Mercedes Oliver's 2017 school record (49.34m) with a throw of 49.55 meters (162 feet, 6 inches) on her fourth attempt. The mark won the event by more than eight feet.
Kuchera jumped 12.27 meters (40-3.25) on her third attempt to cap an impressive freshman campaign with her third meet title of the season.
NOTABLES
- Senior Amy Allen ran a personal-best 25.27 in the 200-meter dash, her second PR of the weekend. She also finished fourth in the 400 meters on Saturday with a time of 55.04.
- Sophomore Anna Rorrer placed sixth in both the 100-meter hurdles (14.56) and 400-meter hurdles (1:02.62) to score points for the Dukes.
- Senior Halle Walcutt added a seventh-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.68.
