Duquesne University baseball coach Mike Wilson recently announced the addition of four players for the 2010 season. Ryan Balbierz (Hamburg, N.Y./Frontier), Tyler Bowen (Bethel Park, Pa./ Bethel Park), Jackson Boyd (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) and Robert Corsi (Oceanport, N.J./Shore Regional) will enroll at Duquesne next fall. They join Karl Benusa (Oakmont, Pa./Riverview), Nick Berger (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) and Richard Navari (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) who signed during the early signing period.
Balbierz is a three-year letterman and team captain of both the baseball and golf teams at Frontier High School. An ECIC All-Star in both sports as a junior, he hit .321 as a third baseman and posted a 2.71 ERA on the mound.
Bowen is a letterman for the WPIAL play-off bound Bethel Park Blackhawks. He hit .330 as a junior and was named a "Player to Watch" in 2009.
Boyd comes to the Dukes from section champion North Allegheny High School. He was a two-year All-Conference choice in football and hit. 359 with three home runs as a junior.
Corsi played for state semifinalist Shore Regional High. He was an All-Conference honoree, a team MVP and a selection to play in the Carpenter Cup Classic.
