Duquesne's baseball team came as close as it has ever come to beating an SEC school, falling to #17 Florida, 5-3 on Saturday in Gainesville, Fla.

Senior Ryan Juran pitched the initial 6 2/3 innings, allowing six hits while striking out two. Freshman Jim Devine tossed the final 1 1/3 of scoreless baseball, yielding just one hit.

Freshman Derek Lefever was 2-3 with an RBI, sophomore Joe Lombardo was 2-3 with a run scored and senior Bill Torre was 2-4 with an RBI.

The final game of the series and the final game of the Dukes' eight-game Florida trip will be played Sunday at noon.
