AKRON - The Duquesne women's track and field team had 16 top-10 finished this weekend at the 2009 Akron Open including the 4x400 team of Melissa Miller, Kathleen Parker, Meghan Wendelken and Charlene Garth setting a season-best time of 3:53.16..
Hannah Ringo and Sara Cimino finished back-to-back in the mile, placing fifth and sixth with times of 5:10.86 and 5:13.48 respectively in the gold division. Danielle Werley was second in the blue division with a season-best time of 5:20.66.
Meghan Wendelken set a personal-best time in the 400m, finished 10th overall with a time of 1:00.48.
Kathy Parker set a season-best time in the 800m, crossing sixth overall with a time of 2:17.52.
Samantha Howard and Katie Kelly finished first and second in the 3000m with times of 10:20.46 and 10:25.89.
Meghan Ecker finished fourth in the 5000m with a time of 18:54.04 followed by Bethany Walker who crossed sixth, 19:13.02.
Sarah Cappo's high jump of 5-2.25 was good for a third place tie while Amanda Collin's jump of 5-0.25 was tied for fifth place
Sierra Larsuel finished fifth in the long jump with a distance of 17-4.25 and Katelyn Cass was sixth in the triple jump with a distance of 35-08.75.
Next up is the 2009 A-10 Indoor Championships Feb. 20 on the campus of the University of Rhode Island.
