Watch Coach Serio at Atlantic 10 Media Day
PHILADELPHIA - Duquesne senior guard Keri Pryor (Morgantown, W.Va./ Morgantown) and redshirt junior forward Samantha Pollino (Johnstown, Pa./ Conemaugh Valley) were named to the Atlantic 10 preseason Third-Team All-Conference Team released today as part of the Atlantic 10's annual media day.
The women's basketball team was picked to finish tied for sixth place with St. Bonaventure in a preseason poll of league coaches and media.
Pryor is coming off a 2008-09 season where she set career-highs in points, rebounds and assists. The three-year starter is the Dukes' leading returning scorer averaging 11.3 points per contest last season.
Pollino also is coming off a career year where she finished fourth in A-10 Conference games with a 14.5 point per game average. After posting a career-high 23 points at Massachusetts, she followed up with back-to-back 22 point efforts against St. Bonaventure and Fordham resulting in being named A-10 Player of the Week.
The Dukes, in their third season under head coach Suzie McConnell-Serio, host exhibition games against Indiana, Pa. on Nov. 1 and West Liberty State Nov. 6 before opening up the 2009-10 season at Cornell Nov. 11. The home opener will be Nov. 18 against Mount St. Mary's.
