Duquesne University Unveils Duquesne Athletic Fund

Aug. 13, 2008

Duquesne University Director of Athletics Greg Amodio recently announced the unveiling of the Duquesne Athletic Fund, the new fundraising and development arm of Duquesne's Department of Athletics.

The Duquesne Athletic Fund is supported by both individuals and businesses, all of which are committed to the success of Duquesne Athletics. It provides funds to support the operational costs of the University's 20 varsity sports programs, including its nearly 500 male and female student-athletes.

"The Duquesne Athletic Fund ensures that our student-athletes have the financial resources they need to prepare and perform at the highest level--on the fields and courts and in the classroom," Amodio said. "While donors' gifts make a difference on the scoreboards and in the standings, they also touch and change each one of our student athletes, who emerge as better teammates and stronger leaders in their personal lives and professional careers."

The Duquesne Athletic Fund has been initiated under the leadership of an advisory board comprised of 20 Duquesne graduates and constituents. Responsibilities for the Duquesne Athletic Fund fall under former Duquesne football player Bryan Colonna '04. Colonna works in Athletic Development and can be reached at 412-396-5927 or colonna770@duq.edu.
