Dukes Lose to Akron in the Ninth, 9-7

Duquesne's baseball team held a lead for eight innings of Wednesday's game with Akron, but the Zips scored seven runs in the top of the ninth to steal a 9-7 victory from the Dukes.

Lawrence Anderson made his first collegiate start and pitched four scoreless innings, allowing three hits while striking out three. Aaron Janusey went 4-4 for the Red and Blue, scoring two runs and knocking in two. Joe Lombardo added two hits and Derek Mechling blasted his team-leading 11th home run of the season.

The Dukes will take Thursday off to prepare for their final home games of the season as Saint Louis visits for a three-game Atlantic 10 series beginning Friday at 4:00 pm.
