Duquesne's baseball team could not overcome two big innings by Charlotte as they bowed to the 49ers, 13-7 in the quarterfinals of the Atlantic 10 Championship. The Dukes will now face Temple in the loser's bracket at 8:26 pm this evening.
After 2 ½ scoreless innings, Charlotte posted four runs in the bottom of the third for a 4-0 lead. The Dukes responded with four runs in the top of the fifth to knot the game. However, the 49ers exploded with seven runs in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead for good.
Eric Morrison went 3-4 with two RBI and a run scored while Pat Kimutis was 3-4 with two runs and an RBI. Bill Torre also chipped in with two RBI and Mike Carroll scored twice.
