Duquesne's baseball team won game one of its three-game Atlantic 10 series with visiting first place Xavier, 4-1 Friday afternoon at Duquesne Field. Junior pitcher Ryan Juran held the Musketeers to four hits en route to his team-best fifth victory.

Juran tossed eight innings, striking out four batters while walking three. Danny Brown pitched the ninth inning to pick up his team leading seventh save

Xavier took a 1-0 lead in the second inning before Derek Mechling singled in the tying run in the fifth inning. In the sixth, Mike Caroll homered to give DU the lead, then Bill Torre singled in two insurance runs,

The Dukes improve to 20-22 overall and 13-6 in Atlantic play to move into a tie for first place with Xavier.

Game two of the series is slated for Saturday at 1:00 pm.
