Throwers Compete at the Washington & Jefferson College Invitational

WASHINGTON, PA - The Duquesne women's track and team's throwers competed at the Washington & Jefferson College Invitational this past weekend. The team of Arin Whitman, Corinne Free and Katie Ale finished in 10th place with a total of 35 points.

Whitman and Free had a strong showing in the discus finishing in second and third place respectively. Whitman threw 126-1 earning the Dukes eight points while Free's throw of 121-11 was good for six points.

In the shot put, Free earned eight points with her second place finish after her thrown of 39-2.25. Whitman's throw of 36-4.75 was sixth overall and got DU three points.

Whitman earned Duquesne six more points after taking third place in the hammer throw with a distance of 140-11. Free scored the Dukes four points with a fifth place finish with a throw of 125-10.

Ale placed 11th in a field of 25 with a throw of 90-4 in the javelin.

Up next for the Dukes is the Bison Outdoor Classic on Friday.
