Box Score

Duquesne's baseball team held leads of 1-0, 3-1 and 4-3, but Charlotte scored the last run of the game in the bottom of the 10th inning as the 49ers topped the visiting Dukes, 5-4 Friday evening.

Mike Carroll was 2-4 with three RBI and launched a two-run home run in the fifth inning. Eric Morrison also had two hits and Derek Mechling scored two runs.

Ryan Juran pitched nine innings for the Dukes and allowed the eventual game-winning run in the 10th inning to suffer the loss.

Game two of the series begins Saturday at 2:00 pm.
