Duquesne's Win Streak Snapped at 11 in Wild Game

It took 14 innings and over five hours, but Duquesne's 11-game winning streak came to an end Wednesday evening at Youngstown State as the Dukes lost to the Penguins, 8-7. In the contest, the Dukes and Penguins pitchers combined to hit 13 batters which is a new NCAA Division I record. The two teams also combined to leave 43 men on base which ties an NCAA record.

The first four batters in the DU line-up accounted for 11 of the team's 14 hits and six of the eight runs. The Dukes were led by Anthony Manley who went 4-6 with a run scored and an RBI, Mike Carroll who was 2-4 with three RBI and a run scored, Derek Mechling who was 3-6 with two runs and an RBI and Pat Kimutis who was 2-6 with a run and two RBI.

The Red and Blue return to action on Friday as they travel to Rhode Island for a three-game Atlantic 10 series.
