For the fourth time since the ballpark opened in 2001, Duquesne University's baseball team is slated to play at PNC Park as the Dukes (15-16) play host to Pitt (10-21) on Wednesday, April 16 at 1:00 pm.
The Dukes are currently in first place in the Atlantic 10 Conference with a 10-2 league record. They are led in hitting by junior Mike Carroll (New Martinsville, W. Va./Magnolia) who is batting .402 with a team-best 10 doubles, three home runs and 22 RBI. Other key contributors are seniors Derek Mechling (Homer City, Pa./Homer Center) and Aaron Janusey (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township). Mechling is batting .350 with team high's of six home runs and 30 runs scored while knocking in 20 RBI. Janusey, who shares the homer lead with six, leads the Dukes with 25 RBI and is batting .300 with nine doubles.
On the mound, the Red and Blue are led by junior Ryan Juran (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler) with a 4-4 record and 23 strikeouts and sophomore Paul Bugajski (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) with a 3-3 mark with 29 strikeouts.
Duquesne and Pitt met earlier this season with the Panthers capturing a 9-8 decision in a see-saw battle at Pitt's Trees Field on April 8.
Admission to the game is free by entering through the home plate entrance beginning at noon.
