Duquesne's baseball team split a double-header with visiting La Salle Saturday afternoon, losing game one, 8-5 and winning the nightcap, 3-0.
Aaron Jaunsey had four hits including a home run while Jeremy Gerger earned the victory, pitching seven scoreless innings in his first start of the season.
In game one, the Dukes held a 4-3 lead after five innings before La Salle scored a run in the sixth and four in the seventh to capture a lead they would not release. Janusey, Pat Kimutis and Mark Tracy all homered for the Red and Blue. Kimutis was 3-5 in the game with two RBI while Janusey and Tracy each has two hits.
The first five 1/2 innings of game two were scoreless before DU scored twice in the sixth and once in the seventh. Jeremy Gerger made the most of his first start of the season, tossing seven shutout innings to capture his first win of the season. He faced just 24 batters, allowing only four hits and walking one while striking out six.
Danny Brown closed the door again, striking out three in 1 1/3 innings to pick up his team-leading fourth save.
Janusey and Eric Morrison each had two of Duquesne's six hits.
The Dukes retain sole possession of first place in the Atlantic 10 standings with its 10-2 record and return to action on Tuesday, April 15 as they travel to West Virginia for a 4:00 pm game with the Mountaineers.
