DU Wins Sixth Straight, Tops UMass, 5-2

Duquesne's baseball team won its sixth straight game and improved to 3-0 in Atlantic 10 play with a 5-2 triumph over visiting UMass in 6 2/3 innings Saturday afternoon. The game was halted in the bottom of the seventh due to snow.

Aaron Janusey was 3-3 with a home run, a triple, two runs scored and two RBI. He also reached base on a walk and on a hit by pitch. Derek Mechling was 1-3 with a double, a run scored and two walks.

Freshman Grant Gillespie pitched the first six innings for the Dukes, allowing just three hits and two runs (one earned) while striking out three to pick up his first collegiate win. Lawrence Anderson tossed the final inning, striking out two for hsi first save.

The Dukes return to action on Tuesday, March 25 as they travel to Akron for a 3:00 pm game.
