Duquesne's baseball team opened its 2008 season with a 14-3 loss at 12th-ranked Florida State. The game was played at noon as part of a double-header due to Friday evening's rainout and was halted after seven innings due to a 10-run rule.

Senior Aaron Janusey had two of the Dukes' five hits, going 2-3 with a run scored. Sophomore Chris Happ had a pinch-hit RBI and junior Bill Torre knocked in a run.

Red and Blue pitching gave up six home runs in the loss.

Game two of the doubleheader should start around 3:20 pm.
