WHO, WHAT AND WHERE: The Duquesne women's basketball team will be in Miami, Fla. for the UM Holiday Tournament Dec. 29 and Dec. 30. The Dukes will play #10 Auburn Monday and will face either Brown or Miami on Tuesday.
DUQUESNE LATELY:Coming off a 77-64 win at IPFW Dec. 21. Keri Pryor scored a season-high 23 points in the Dukes' win over the Mastodons. Have won three games in a row and seven of 10.
KEEP IT ON THE DOWN LOWE: On Dec. 20th, Kristi Little was named as a fi nalist for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award. The award - presented annually to an NCAA Division I studentathlete in nine sports. Based on criteria focusing on the "Four C's" of classroom, character, community and competition, the award winners will be selected by national balloting of head basketball coaches, national media and college basketball fans.
CENTURY CLUB: Little and Rachel Frederick look to become members of Duquesne's 1,000 point club. Little entered the season with 777 points and needs 71 points for 1,000. Frederick started this season with 806 points and needs 70 points for 1,000.
AGAINST THE SOUTHEAST CONFERENCE: Duquesne's lone win against a SEC school was a 70-62 win over South Carolina at the Palumbo Center on Dec. 10, 2000. Including the Gamecocks, the Dukes are 1-5 overall against Florida, Kentucky and Vanderbilt.
AGAINST THE ATLANTIC COAST CONFERENCE: Duquesne has a 2-6 career mark against school from the ACC. The Dukes own a pair of wins over Florida State and have lost to Auburn, Clemson (twice), North Carolina and Virginia.
AGAINST THE IVY LEAGUE: Duquesne has faired well against teams from the Ivy League. DU is 8-1 overall and have been victorious over Cornell (four times), Harvard, Penn and Princeton (two times). The Dukes lone loss was to Princeton 12/22/06. The Dukes could be playing Brown on the second day of the Miami Holiday Tournament Dec. 30.
TOURNAMENT TIME: Duquesne has played in 26 different tournament a total of 28 times (Mountain Classic and Carrier Classic twice). Overall, the Dukes post a 24-34 in tournament games. This is DU's second appearance in a University of Miami hosted tournament. Duquesne finished third in the Miami Thanksgiving Classic in 2005.
