Box Score

TOWSON, Md. - Towson scored the final five points of the game Sunday afternoon in their 59-56 victory over the Duquesne women's basketball team. The loss is the first of the season for the Dukes and ends the team's six game winning streak.

Kristi Little scored a game-high 18 points and Keri Pryor added 13 points and a team-best eight rebounds for the Dukes who fell to 6-1 on the season.

The Dukes, coming off shooting 55 percent against Niagara on Friday, still had the hot hand in the first half, making 13-of-27 shots including 5-of-10 3-pointers.

Samantha Thompson's 3-pointer with 1:10 remaining in the half gave the Dukes its largest lead of the half, 11 points, at 33-22 before TU's Kandace Davis' foul shot closed out the first half scoring with DU taking a 33-23 lead into halftime.

The Dukes would build a 12 point lead with 14:52 to go in the second half. However, the Tigers would continue to chip away at the lead over the next nine minutes and a Shanae Baker-Brice jumper at the 5:46 mark would tie the contest at 50-50.

A Haiena Snowden layup gave TU their first lead since the first minute of regulation, 52-50 with 5:09 remaining.

An Eve Pyle layup tied the contest at 52-52 before Katrina Wheeler put Towson in the lead once more at 54-52.

Back-to-back layups by Little and Pryor gave DU a 56-54 lead with 1:59 left, but an Alis Freeman 3-pointer with 1:38 remaining regained the Tigers lead at 57-54.

TU extended its lead to three points after a pair of Baker-Brice foul shot with 28 seconds remaining. The Dukes miss a pair of shots on the next possession and had to foul Baker-Brice to stop the clock with eight seconds left.

Baker-Brice missed the first half of the one-and-one and the rebound was grabbed by Little, who immediately called a timeout.

The Towson defense clamped down and trapped Little in the corner off the inbound pass. Little got a pass off, but the time expired before the Dukes could get a shot off.

Duquesne returns home to host Pittsburgh on Wednesday night in the annual City Game. The Dukes and Panthers tipoff is at 7:00 p.m.
