Women's Basketball Looks to go 6-0 Friday Night

WHO, WHAT AND WHERE: The Duquesne women's basketball team looks to improve to 6-0 on the season when they host Niagara Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the A.J. Palumbo Center.

DUKES AND PURPLE EAGLES: Friday will mark the 12th time Duquesne and Niagara have played each other. The Dukes hold a 9-2 advantage in the series that began Dec. 16, 1979 (an 80-51 NU win). The last meeting was Jan. 2, 2008 with DU prevailing 67-48 at the Gallagher Center.

DUQUESNE LATELY: Off to their best start (5-0) in 10 years. The Dukes are coming off a 68-56 win at Binghamton Tuesday night. Rachel Frederick recorded her first double-double in a Dukes uniform with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

NIAGARA LATELY: Coming off an 87-62 loss at Buffalo. Erika Harris had a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds NU.

AGAINST THE METRO ATLANTIC ATHLETIC CONFERENCE: Duquesne has had quite a bit of success against schools from the MAAC, which was founded in 1980. Overall, the Dukes post a 10-3 (.769) record against Canisius, Loyola, Md., Niagara and Siena. DU's first, and most recent, games against a MAAC school were victories over Niagara - Feb. 19, 1990 and Jan. 2, 2008.

BUILDING EMPIRES: Duquesne has faired quite well against teams from the Empire State. The Dukes have an overall record of 53-28 (.654) against Army, Binghamton, Buffalo, Canisius, Cornell, Fordham, Niagara, St. Bonaventure, Siena, Syracuse and Wagner. Friday night marks the second consecutive and third overall opponent from New York for DU this season.

LOOKING AHEAD: The Dukes will travel to Towson on Nov. 30 before returning to the Palumbo Center Dec. 3 to host Pittsburgh.
