The Duquesne University men's soccer team hosted Niagara Friday evening and the two teams played to a 2-2 tie in a wild game that featured 40 shots, 38 fouls and 18 corner kicks.
The Dukes jumped to a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute as sophomore Alex Trujillo scored off an assist from junior John Strosser for the only goal of the first half.
The Red and Blue took a 2-0 advantage in the 50th minute as freshman Stefan Lundberg scored his second goal of the season off of assists from senior Travis MacKenzie and junior Drew Jeffery.
The two goal lead would only hold up for six minutes as Niagara found the back of the net in the 56th minute. The Purple eagles then tied the contest six minutes later to even the game at 2-2.
The Dukes had several scoring opportunities in the waning minutes, but could not convert.
The Red and Blue return to action on Sunday, Sept. 23 as they host Cleveland State at 1:00 pm on Rooney Field.
