Lightweight 4 Wins Event at Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Crew Championships

Fairfax, Va. - The rowing team took to the Occoquan Reservoir in the Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Crew Championships May 6. The crew raced in four events with the women's lightweight 4 winning their event crossing in 7:47.2. The varsity 4 finished second behind Penn State with a time of 7:49.4.

The women's novice finished in first place in their preliminary heat with a time of 8:33.9. In the finals, the Red & Blue's time of 7:40.5 was just 1.8 seconds behind first-place Carnegie Mellon who crossed in 7:38.7.

The crew concludes the 2006-07 season this weekend on Schuylkill River at the Dad Vails in Philadelphia. The Dad Vails is the largest collegiate regatta in the United States. Over 100 colleges and universities from the U.S. and Canada will be participating in the regatta.
