Box Score

St. Bonaventure, N.Y. - Duquesne University's baseball team rallied with three runs in the eighth inning for a 4-1 win over St. Bonaventure, Friday afternoon at Fred Handler Park. Jeff Naughton (6-3) scattered nine hits for his team-best sixth win and first complete game of the season.

The Dukes, who have won four of the last five, raised their record to 17-23, 7-12 in Atlantic 10 play. The Bonnies are 19-21, an even 9-9 in the league.

Duquesne, which was held to five hits by the Bonnies' Jim Britton, tied the game (1-1) on Bill Torre's no-out RBI double in the sixth after SBU had scored on a pair of two-baggers in their first at-bat.

The Dukes' trey in the eighth came from Brian Bernardo and Paul Bugajski singles with some help from the Bonnies (two errors, a passed ball). Two of the three runs were unearned.

Naughton stopped the Bonnies' attempted rally in the ninth. The Rochester, N.Y. native got Kevin Suminski on a ground ball, with first and second occupied, for the final out of the game. Britton (4-4) also pitched a complete game.

The two teams continue their three-game weekend series with a single contest tomorrow, Saturday, May 5, 2007, at 12:00 noon at Handler Park.
