GW Takes Dukes, 11-5

Arlington, Va. - Duquesne's baseball team, which was knocked out of post-season consideration with Friday's loss to George Washington, dropped game two to the Colonials, 11-5, Friday afternoon at Barcroft Park in Washington, D.C.'s Virginia suburbs.

Duquesne had a 2-1 lead in the fourth but lost touch with the Colonials when GW scored nine in the sixth for an 11-3 edge. The Dukes added a pair in the top of the ninth for the final of 11-5.

Sophomore Bill Torre was 2-for-3 and scored twice. Freshman Johnny Elms amd junior Keith Meyer blanked the hosts the final 2.1 innings. Senior Michael Dukovich (2-2) was charged with the loss.

Curtis Eward and Michael Parker each had a pair of hits and Mickey Shupin slammed his second home run for the Colonials. Starting pitcher Scott Swinson (5-6) got the win.

Duquesne (22-28, 10-16) and GW (22-31-1,13-13) will conclude this three-game Atlantic 10 Conference series on Saturday, May, 19, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. at Bancroft Field.
