Red and Blue Tame Bobcats, 8-6

The Duquesne University baseball team jumped out to a 6-1 lead and held on for an 8-6 decision over visiting Ohio University Tuesday afternoon at Duquesne Field in Green Tree Borough. The Dukes improved to 13-15 while the Bobcats fell to 12-17.

Sophomore shortstop Bill Torre (South Park, Pa./South Park) was 3-4 with two RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base. He tied the game at 1-1 with a solo home run, leading off the bottom of the first inning. Junior center fielder Eric Morrison (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) was 2-4 with two runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base.

On the mound, sophomore Ryan Juran (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler) captured his first collegiate victory, tossing five innings, giving up four runs and seven hits while striking out two and walking two. Junior Keith Meyer (Pittsburgh, Pa./Schenley) pitched the ninth inning and picked up his team-leading third save.

The Red and Blue return to action tomorrow, Wednesday, April 11 as they face cross-town foe Pitt at 7:00 pm at Falconi Field in Washington, Pa.
