Dukes Split a Pair at Navy

After being cancelled due to weather on Saturday, the Duquesne baseball team split a doubleheader at Navy on Sunday, losing game one, 6-1 and bouncing back to take game two, 16-0.

A number of Dukes had big days, including a trio of sophomores. Bill Torre was 3-4 with three runs scored in four RBI in the win, Gary Pierpont earned his first collegiate victory, tossing six scoreless innings, while allowing six hits and stiking out two and Anthony Manley was 3-5 on the day with two RBI and two runs scored.

Junior Eric Morrison had three hits and three RBI, senior Corey Bugno homered and drove in three runs and junior Nolan Pena had two hits and scored three runs.

The Dukes return to action on Tuesday, March 20 as they travel to Kent for a 3:00 pm game.
