The Suzie McConnell-Serio era of Duquesne women's basketball begins late this afternoon as the Dukes visit Morehead State at 5:00 p.m.

Today is DU's 35th season opener. Duquesne is 16-18 all-time in opening games. The Dukes have won 10 of their past 12 opening games including a thrilling 58-57 win over Saint Francis, Pa. last season.

This is the first meeting between Duquesne and Morehead State, a member of the Ohio Valley Conference. The Eagles return two starters and six lettermen from last year's 14-16 team. Mike Bradbury, who served as an assistant at Xavier, Cincinnati Virginia Commonwealth and Chattanooga over the past 15 seasons, is in his first season as head coach at MSU. The Eagles are lead by top returner Tarah Combs, who led MSU and ranked third in the Ohio Valley Conference with 67 three-pointers. Combs' 50 three-pointers in league games topped all OVC players.

The Dukes are coming off a 88-78 loss to Team Reebok in an exhibition Nov. 2. Lauren Reinshuttle led five Duquesne players in double figures with 16. Jade Singleton (13 pts. and 10 rbs.) and Kristi Little (12 pts. and 10 assts.) had a double-doubles for the Dukes who took a 14 lead with 4:16 to go in the first half after a 24-0 run. With the score tied at 69-69 in the second half, Team Reebok built a six point lead 81-75. The Dukes got within three points at 81-78 with 1:34 remaining, but it was the last bucket for DU as another three pointer and four foul shots by gave Team Reebok an 88-78 victory.

After the Morehead State game, the Dukes will make their first-career trip to Clemson Nov. 14. Last season, the Tigers' D'Leasha Lloyd's 23 points as they got by DU at the Palumbo Center 77-74. In that contest, the Dukes' Kristi Little had a career-high 10 assists and 17 points. On Nov. 19, Duquesne will play at Cincinnati. This will be the first time in program history that the Dukes and Beatcats will meet. DU opens their home schedule with a pair of games - Nov. 21 against Robert Morris and Nov. 25 vs. Towson.
