Duquesne's men's soccer team opened up Atlantic 10 play Friday evening with a 2-1 victory over visiting Charlotte on Rooney Field.

The Dukes lit the scoreboard early as sophomore Matthew Groves tallied his first collegiate goal in the 15th minute off assists from senior Travis MacKenzie and sophomore Alex Trujillo. A little over two minutes later, Groves scored his second collegiate goal as Trujillo and senior Pat Flinn assisted.

The Dukes held the 49ers scoreless until the 82nd minute when Will Shull scored. Freshman goalkeeper Chris Torres made six saves on the day.

The Red and Blue will host 18th-ranked Saint Louis, Sunday at noon.
