Game Time

Duquesne returns to the road for the first time in five weeks facing Charlotte in a grudge match of sorts. The teams met for the first time last year with the 49ers winning 79-72 at the Palumbo before the Dukes upset Charlotte (the No. 2 seed) 56-45 in the quarterfinals of the Atlantic 10 tournament. The Dukes are coming off a 78-70 win over Saint Louis while Charlotte is on a six-game winning streak after taking Richmond 65-60 on the road Thursday night. Duquesne is 3-4 on the road while Charlotte boasts a perfect 10-0 mark at home. Charlotte is tied for the league lead at 4-0 while DU is tied for fifth entering the weekend.

The Coaches

Duquesne's Dan Durkin is in his 14th season at the helm of the Duquesne women's basketball program and as a head coach. He posts a 176-206 career mark. Durkin is a 1975 graduate of Mount St. Mary's.

Charlotte's Amanda Butler is in her second year at Charlotte and as a collegiate head coach. She owns a 34-15 record and led the 49ers to a 21-9 mark last year. She is a 1995 graduate of Florida.

The Series

Sunday marks the third meeting between Duquesne and Charlotte and the series is tied at 1-1. The 49ers defeated DU in their debut match-up 79-72 at the Palumbo while the 10th seeded Dukes battled for a 56-45 upset of the second-seeded 49ers in the Atlantic 10 championship. This is Duquesne's first trip to Halton Arena.

Dukes Lately

Duquesne upped its record to 7-9 overall taking Saint Louis 78-70 Thursday night in front of a national TV audience ending a six-game home stand for the Red & Blue ... Duquesne had two players hit 20 or more points in that contest for the first time since the 2006 season as Carmen Bruce and Jocelyn Chandler notched 24 and 22 points respectively ... Duquesne has seen its roster cut short due to injury / illness are four players are currently on the sidelined list in Brittany Warren, Samantha Pollino, Keri Pryor and Kelli Costa ... the Dukes stand 3-4 on the road this season and will face their first road Conference opponent at Charlotte.

Charlotte Lately

The 49ers won their sixth-straight taking a 65-60 win at Richmond Thursday night. They are 13-6 overall, 4-0 in Conference play and boast a 10-0 record at home this season. Charlotte is 46th in the NCAA in scoring offense (72.3); 56th in assists per game (15.4); 63rd in steals per game (10.4); 74th in W-L pct. (.667); 77th in scoring margin (6.8) and 87th in free throw pct. (.710). They shared the A-10 regular season title last year with George Washington going 13-3 in Conference action and were 21-9 overall. They return one starter and seven letterwinners from last year's squad. Ten of the 12-member roster has started at least three match-ups this season with leading scorers Sabrina Gregory (12.9 ppg) and Danielle Burgin (10.6 ppg) starting all 19 contests. Burgin leads the squad in rebounding with 7.6 boards per game. Charlotte competed in the WNIT last season. They have won 20-straight home games ranking them fourth among active Division I winning streaks. The 49ers have won 23 of the last 25 home games.
