The Duquesne Dukes suffered a 3-0 loss to Pitt which moved on to an eight-win streak Tuesday night. Pitt (8-0, 0-0 Big East) out hit the Dukes (7-4, 0-0 Atlantic 10) by .285 to .131. Sophomore Laura Kastein led the Red & Blue with 20 digs while Amanda Haeg recorded 11 kills.
The first game began with a rally for the lead with the Panthers pulling ahead at three and staying ahead for the remainder of the game. Pitt gained a comfortable 10-point lead and was able to take the game, 30-20.
Duquesne fought back in the second game, taking the lead from the start. Pitt was able to pull ahead, 18-17, and went on a four-point streak. Pitt stayed in the lead winning, 30-26.
In game three, Duquesne got off to a lead, but two errors by the Dukes tied up the game at nine. The Panthers pulled ahead to a solid lead to finish, 30-23. Ross led the team with five kills, and Boroumand put up 16 assists.
Duquesne will compete in the Texas-Arlington tournament this weekend.
