Buffalo, N.Y. - Duquesne University's men's soccer team returned to its winning ways beating host Buffalo, 2-1, Friday night at UB Stadium. The Dukes are now 4-3-1 while the Bulls dropped to 5-3-1.
After a scoreless first half, the Dukes' Greg Annan put the visitors ahead on a four-yarder that found a niche in the top left part of the goal after two-and-a-half minutes of play in the half. Travis MacKenzie and Alex Trujillo assisted on the score.
Trujillo put in a needed, insurance goal at 88:34 on a break-away with Nick Balara and Tom Sochacki.
The Bulls avoided the shutout with 32 seconds left in regulation as Marc Stencel's shot got past DU goalie Zach Varga into the left side of the net. Varga had six saves for Duquesne, while UB's Daniel Bell stopped four of the Dukes' six shots on goal.
Duquesne stays in western New York for a Sunday, September 24, 2006 match with Niagara in their home opener at 1:00 p.m.
