Pittsburgh, PA - Christina Goodfellow's header from Audra Mathews' corner kick in overtime proved to be the Dukes' game-winning score at 94:35 as Duquesne snagged a 2-1 victory against visiting Saint Francis (Pa.) Friday evening on Rooney Field. The win snapped a five-match win-less streak for the Duquesne.
The game saw nearly 71 minutes of scoreless play before Kelly Reed took the give from Shaina Geisler who rebounded a post shot giving the Red & Blue a 1-0 lead in the second period. Just over eight minutes later, the Red Flash tied the contest as Nikki Khanna scored from Kristen Hoffsmith who drove the ball from 20 yards out for the 10-yard shot into the back of the net.
Duquesne saw two shots from Faye Rasmussen ricochet off the goal post in the 92nd minute and one fly off the crossbar all in a minute's span, but the contest would see extra minutes - the third OT contest for Duquesne this season.
Reed and Goodfellow both scored their first goals of the season tonight vs. the Red Flash.
