Duquesne University's head women's basketball coach Dan Durkin has announced the signing of Amanda Peck (Morgantown, W. Va./Morgantown) to a National Letter of Intent for the 2006-07 season. She is the third recruit secured for the coming season.
Peck, a 6-3 post, averaged 14.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game en route to being named a first team All-NCAC and All-State honoree. Morgantown took the Class AAA runner-up trophy in 2006 at the state championship and enjoyed a run of 18-straight victories over the season's span. The Mohigans reigned as 2005 West Virginia State champs.
"Amanda will assist us right away in the center position helping to fill the void due to the graduation of Nicole Sinclair and Maria Stankevich", says Coach Durkin. "I think we got a sleeper in Amanda. She had a great run her senior year at Morgantown H. S. falling in the state finals. Coach Allan Collins has great teams year in and year out so we snow she was well coached."
Peck earned a spot of the West Virginia All-Tournament team, the Kroger Holiday Classic All-Tournament team and was named to the All-Dominion Post squad.
Coach Durkin adds, "During her official visit, Amanda really liked the beauty of the campus and the academic environment provided."
